Why Writing?
When I was about 8 years old my best friend Jackie and I decided to be writers! We moved desks into the front yard and started writing. My book was about an underground neighborhood of animal families. I’ve enjoyed lots of hobbies and interests over the years. Kayaking, drawing, photography, doll making, gardening, canning, sewing, scrapbooking, and even home renovation. With all my hobbies I find joy, but writing is the one that I always come back to. It is the one that brings me the greatest joy.
My Family
My husband, Mike, and I have 6 Sons, 1 Daughter, 1 son-in-law, 4 daughter-in-laws, and plenty of fur babies! I’m also the proud Grandma to 7 grandkids! (Soon to be 8, Not all Pictured)
I am loved and I love. What more can you ask for?
My Childhood
I was born and raised in suburbs of Altadena, California. I was the third of seven children. Being from a large family had definite advantages for developing creativity. Because money was always tight, my mother would get creative with gifts and entertainment.
My mother was an avid reader and as such imparted that love to her children. I have so many cherished memories of her reading to us…Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Little House on the Prairie, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle, and many more. One book, Never Tease a Weasel, by Jean Condor Soule was a special favorite. I have my childhood copy of that one and have read it to my grandkids.
We are the family that makes exciting costumes, do DIY Christmas gifts, and make believe.
